Isabella Burke 

As a choreographer, I strive to create movement that is rooted in connection and relation. My journey through movement has led me to believe dance is a display of community and culture. I challenge my choreography to create a performance long, temporary community that’s connected through the performance. Movement is a way to speak and relate, which is where my passion and inspiration is fueled. I believe dance has meaning, and should be used to bring people together in a world we’re constantly being pulled apart.

I highly value collaboration among my performers and in my process. I collaborate with the performers to create a movement that is truly authentic and connected to them as the communicator. Giving each mover the space to connect the piece and find their own relationship with it. I think this adds an expressive and raw component to choreography that speaks to the view in an impactful way. Each dance I make is a response, from me & the performers, shaped by the spaces, perspectives, and community around us.
